Benjamin P. Hyink
Mr. Hyink grew up in Palos Park, Illinois. He graduated from Carl Sandburg High School. While in high school he was elected Co-Captain of his Wrestling Team. As a young man, Mr. Hyink learned many important lessons useful in his future law practice, when he held jobs on a sod farm, in a factory, a restaurant, a grocery store and a post office. He became the coordinator of the Office of Citizen’s Affairs in the Office of the Governor of the State of Illinois in 1974 and 1975. Later, he became director of a state-wide home weatherization project in the Governor’s Office of Manpower and Human Development. While working in Springfield he obtained his undergraduate degree from Sangamon State University, now the University of Illinois at Springfield.
In 1976, he began his legal studies at DePaul University, College of Law. While in law school Mr. Hyink became a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International. He went on to become the Justice of the law school chapter, then the District Justice and eventually was elected to International Executive Board and to the position of Justice of the Chicago Alumni Chapter- a position he held three times. In 1979, he was admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois, as well as the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 1980. He also became licensed to practice in the Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Mr. Hyink has completed more than thirty civil and criminal appeals over the past thirty years. Between 1980 and 1981 he was the legal research and writing professor for the evening division of DePaul University, College of Law. Mr. Hyink has testified as an expert witness in six legal malpractice cases.
In his free time, Mr. Hyink enjoys spending time with his family fishing, camping, and attending his favorite wrestling and baseball sporting events. Serving as a member of the Board of Boy Scout Troop 49 is one of his most gratifying activities.
For over thirty-three years Mr. Hyink has been a self-employed attorney, who has helped his clients with a wide range of legal matters.
